The data show that June 2026 marked a notable contraction, as retail sales fell 3.0% compared to June a year earlier. By contrast, July’s 1.1% year-over-year gain indicates improving momentum, signaling that consumer spending may be stabilizing after the previous month’s setback.
While the pace of growth remains modest, the move from a sharp annual decline to positive growth within a month will be closely watched by analysts and policymakers as an early sign of recovering domestic demand in Indonesia’s retail market.
