Sweden’s total industrial orders decreased by 0.5% year-on-year in July 2026, reversing a 29.5% surge in June and marking the weakest performance since July 2023. The downturn was driven primarily by a sharp slowdown in intermediate goods orders, which rose just 5.8% after a 30.3% jump in the previous month. Orders for energy-related goods excluding durable goods also contracted more steeply, falling 18.9% compared with a 10.9% decline in June, while orders for durable consumer goods dropped 8.7%, deepening from a 3.8% fall in June.
In contrast, capital goods orders edged up 0.3%, a stark deceleration from the 51.8% increase recorded in June. Orders for non-durable consumer goods strengthened notably, climbing 12.0% year-on-year after a modest 0.4% rise in the previous month.
On a monthly basis, total industrial orders fell 24.1% in July, reversing a 32.3% increase in June. Over the January–July period, total orders were 3.6% higher than in the same period a year earlier, supported by growth in export markets that more than offset a decline in domestic demand.
