Ecuador’s annual inflation rate slowed to 1.12% in August 2026, down from 1.39% in July. Inflation in goods decelerated to 0.72% from 1.44%, while inflation in services picked up to 1.60% from 1.33%. Food prices posted another month of deflation, with the rate deepening to 1.32% from 0.71%. Fuel prices jumped 24.64%, reflecting the surge in international crude oil prices amid supply disruptions linked to the US-Iran war, though this increase was less pronounced than July’s 31.09% rise. On a monthly basis, the CPI inched up 0.04% after a 0.1% decline in July. Year-to-date inflation stood at 1.34%.
