In September 2026, Qatar’s central bank raised its key interest rate by 25 basis points to 4.60%, in line with the US Federal Reserve’s latest move. The decision came after the Fed increased the target range for the federal funds rate by 25 basis points to 3.75%–4.00%, with a majority of FOMC members signaling the likelihood of one more hike later in the year. Qatar’s monetary policy generally tracks that of the Fed because the Qatari riyal is pegged to the US dollar. In tandem with the main rate hike, the central bank also lifted its deposit rate and repo rate by 25 basis points, to 4.10% and 4.35%, respectively.
