South Korea’s producer prices increased 7.9% year-on-year in August 2026, up from a 7.7% gain in July. Manufacturing producer prices rose 12.2%, driven by a 54.3% jump in coal and petroleum products. Prices for computers, electronic and optical equipment advanced 24.5%, while chemical products climbed 16.9% and basic metal products grew 16.0%. Prices for agricultural, forestry, and marine products were up 1.1%, and service prices increased 4.4%. Utility prices rose 2.9%, whereas prices for mining products slipped 0.1%. On a monthly basis, the Producer Price Index gained 0.2%, following a 0.4% increase in July.
