FX.co ★ Finnish Jobless Rate Falls to 11-Month Low

Finland’s unemployment rate eased to 9.1% in August 2026 from 9.3% in the same month a year earlier, reaching its lowest level since September 2025. The number of unemployed fell by 5,000 year-on-year to 262,000, including 140,000 men and 122,000 women. By gender, the unemployment rate for men held steady at 9.2%, while the rate for women declined to 8.9%, down 0.5 percentage points from a year earlier. Among young people aged 15–24, the unemployment rate rose to 16.9%, an increase of 0.3 percentage points compared with the previous year. At the same time, employment grew by 34,000 to 2.628 million, lifting the labour force participation rate to 69.4% from 68.7% a year before. The employment rate for those aged 20–64 also increased, rising to 77.3% from 76.2%.
