Spain’s producer price inflation surged to 13.2% year over year in August 2026, up from a revised 9.4% in July, marking the highest rate since December 2022. The acceleration was driven primarily by a sharp rise in energy prices, which climbed 33.3% on the year, compared with 21.2% in July, amid higher oil prices associated with the ongoing US–Iran conflict.
Inflation also picked up for intermediate goods (7.1% vs. 6.7%), durable consumer goods (3.6% vs. 3.5%), and capital goods (2.4% vs. 2.3%). In contrast, inflation for non-durable consumer goods eased to 0.2% from 0.5%.
On a monthly basis, producer prices increased 2.9% in August, following a 3.1% rise in July.
