Hong Kong’s exports rose 53% year-on-year to $667.9 billion in August 2026, quickening from a 50.7% increase in July. Growth was driven primarily by electrical machinery, apparatus and appliances, and parts thereof (62.6% vs 54% in July); office machines and automatic data-processing machines (131% vs 106.5%); power-generating machinery and equipment (19.9% vs 16.7%); and non-ferrous metals (128.9% vs 84.3%).
By contrast, export growth slowed markedly for telecommunications and sound-recording and reproducing apparatus and equipment (20.2% vs 37.2%), as well as for miscellaneous manufactured articles (44.1% vs 108.7%).
Regionally, exports to Asia jumped 59.2%, led by shipments to Mainland China (61.2%), Malaysia (101.7%), and Vietnam (83.3%). Exports to other major markets also posted strong gains, including the United States (64.2%) and Mexico (68.8%).
