North Macedonia’s annual producer inflation rate accelerated to 7.1% in August 2026, up from 6.5% in July, marking its highest level since February 2025. Price growth strengthened for intermediate goods excluding energy (6.2% vs. 5.3% in July), capital goods (11.9% vs. 10.9%), and consumer goods (4.0% vs. 3.9%), including both durable (4.4% vs. 3.8%) and non-durable items (4.0% vs. 3.9%). In contrast, energy price inflation eased to 10.2% from 11.3%.
By sector and division, costs increased in manufacturing (6.3% vs. 5.9%), with notable gains in food products, textiles, paper and paper products, basic pharmaceutical products and preparations, and machinery and equipment. Producer prices also rose sharply in mining and quarrying (21.7% vs. 16.4%). Meanwhile, inflation slowed in the electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sector (10.5% vs. 11.7%) and remained unchanged in water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation services at 7.4%.
On a monthly basis, producer prices increased by 0.4% in August, following a flat reading in July.
