Switzerland’s KOF Economic Barometer rose to 109.1 in September 2026, up from a revised 107.5 in August and significantly above the market expectation of 106. This was the sixth consecutive monthly increase and lifted the indicator to its highest level since September 2021, signaling a continued strengthening in the Swiss economic outlook. The upswing was largely supported by robust activity in manufacturing, services, and construction, with notable contributions from exports, inventory developments, and the overall business climate. By contrast, employment prospects remained under strain, and foreign demand as well as financial and insurance services showed a slight weakening. Within manufacturing, the chemical and pharmaceutical, paper and printing, and textile industries stood out with particularly strong performances.
