European equities advanced on Tuesday as easing crude prices helped alleviate inflation concerns and tempered expectations of an imminent ECB rate hike. The Stoxx 50 rose 0.9%, while the broader Stoxx 600 added 0.3%, driven largely by gains in technology shares. ASML was a notable outperformer, climbing 5%.
In contrast, energy stocks retreated as Brent crude declined toward $104 a barrel after Saudi Arabia restarted a key oil-export pipeline. In Switzerland, Julius Baer rallied as much as 9% after Finma concluded its enforcement proceedings, paving the way for the bank to seek approval to resume its share-buyback programme. Lindt & Sprüngli fell 7.5% after cutting its sales growth forecast for the second time this year.
