The UK's FTSE 100 climbed 0.6% on Monday to move above 10,500, driven by gains in oil & gas, telecom, and mining stocks. Ithaca Energy advanced 2.8%, topping the index, after agreeing with Suncor to acquire a portfolio of conventional offshore oil assets in shallow waters off the east coast of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, for up to $1.1 billion. Metlen Energy & Metals added 1.7% after signing a long-term gallium supply agreement with a Japanese chemical company, covering up to 16% of output from its new facility in Greece. BT Group rose 1.6% following its debt-free acquisition of TalkTalk out of administration, while National Grid gained nearly 1% after upgrading its annual earnings growth guidance.
