Denmark Inflation Rises to 1-Year High

Denmark’s annual inflation rate increased to 2.2% in September 2026, its highest level in a year, up from 2.0% in August. The rise was mainly driven by higher housing and utility costs (1.7% vs 1.0%) and an acceleration in transport inflation (7.7% vs 4.5%). Prices also rose further in recreation, sports, and culture (2.7% vs 2.3%), as well as in personal care and other miscellaneous goods and services (2.0% vs 1.8%). Household equipment and services moved slightly higher (0.1% vs -0.2%).

By contrast, price growth slowed in restaurants and hotels (5.2% vs 7.6%) and in information and communication (3.7% vs 5.1%). Food prices declined further (-2.1% vs -1.5%), and prices for clothing and footwear also fell (-0.6% vs 1.1%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices were flat in September, following a 0.3% decrease in August. Core inflation, which excludes energy and unprocessed food, eased to 1.9% in September—its lowest level in five months—from 2.2% in August.
