Poland’s Trade Deficit Hits €3.05 Billion in August

Poland’s trade deficit widened sharply to €3.05 billion in August 2026, up from €2.16 billion in the same month a year earlier, marking the second-largest gap since the record shortfall of June 2022. Imports climbed 15.4% year-on-year to €31.60 billion, driven primarily by higher purchases of computer hardware, parts and components, and integrated circuits. Rising fuel prices also pushed up the value of crude oil and petroleum product imports, while inflows of aircraft engines and consumer durables increased as well.

Exports, by contrast, grew at a slower pace, rising 13.2% to €28.56 billion. The increase was underpinned by stronger shipments of computer hardware, aircraft engines, petroleum products, and raw silver. These gains were partially offset by weaker performance in key sectors: exports from the automotive industry declined, and furniture sales fell once again.
