Sweden’s economy grew by 0.4% quarter-on-quarter in Q3 2026, a marked slowdown from the 1.6% expansion recorded in Q2, which had been the strongest growth since Q1 2024, according to preliminary data. Nevertheless, the outcome slightly exceeded market expectations of 0.3%. Neda Shahbazi, an economist at Statistics Sweden, noted that robust output in August helped sustain quarterly growth, offsetting weaker activity in September. On an annual basis, GDP increased by 2.8%, easing from 3.3% in Q2 and coming in just below the consensus forecast of 2.9%.
