The Dutch economy expanded by 2.1% year-on-year in Q3 2026, up from 1.6% in Q2 and marking the strongest annual growth rate since Q4 2022, according to preliminary estimates. The main drivers were household consumption and a stronger trade balance. Public consumption rose by 2.0%, while household spending increased by 1.8%. Investment also grew, though more modestly, at 0.8%. Exports advanced by 2.7%, outpacing a 2.2% rise in imports and thereby delivering a positive net trade contribution. By sector, manufacturing, trade, accommodation and food services, and transport and storage made the largest contributions to growth compared with Q3 2025. On a quarterly basis, GDP increased by 0.6%, following an upwardly revised 0.7% expansion in Q2 and beating market expectations of a 0.3% gain.
