Switzerland’s procure.ch–UBS Manufacturing PMI rose to 56.7 in October 2026 from 55.3 in September, beating market expectations of 55.3. This was the eighth consecutive month of expansion, driven by stronger production (58.5 vs. 55.9 in September) and fuller order books (57.4 vs. 57.0).
Supplier delivery times increased to 67.4 from 63.9, signaling further lengthening of lead times and the risk of additional supply bottlenecks. Inventory levels were broadly stable in October, with both inventory-related components hovering around the neutral 50-point level.
The purchase prices component climbed to 77.1 from 70.0, pointing to another substantial rise in input costs. At the same time, the volume of purchases eased to 54.4 from 58.0, though it remained comfortably above the 50-point expansion threshold. The employment component edged down slightly to 48.2 from 48.4, indicating a modest contraction in manufacturing jobs.
