Taiwan’s foreign exchange reserves declined to USD 596.4 billion in October 2026 from USD 600.8 billion in September, reaching their lowest level in three months. The decrease was mainly driven by returns on the investment and deployment of foreign exchange reserves, exchange rate movements among major currencies against the U.S. dollar, and central bank operations aimed at stabilizing the foreign exchange market. At the same time, foreign investors’ holdings of domestic stocks and bonds, measured at market value and including their New Taiwan dollar deposits, amounted to USD 1,742.6 billion, equivalent to roughly 292% of Taiwan’s total foreign exchange reserves.
