According to World Happiness Report 2016, the Republic of Burundi was recognized as the most unhappy country in the world. This East African country is one of the most undeveloped on earth. Its history has not been studied, and the first European traveled here only in the middle of the 19th century.

At the end of the 19th century, colonialists and missionaries arrived in Burundi. Until the middle of the 20th century, the state was under their control. In 1981, the first president was elected in the country.

Burundi was not lucky both with the history of political pursuits and with tolerance - interethnic clashes were constantly taking place in the state. The clashes stopped recently, as other countries became interested in Burundi - an international presence helps to deter aggression.

The main commodity of Burundi is coffee. It accounts for 54% of all exports of the republic. Also, the state sells tea, cotton and skins abroad. Some residents are engaged in fishing.

In Burundi, you can hear two languages: French and Rundi.

One of the state's problems is the rapid deforestation - in Burundi, agriculture is flourishing, which requires these sacrifices. Every year, the green area of the country is reduced by 9%. This is due to the geographical location of the state, there is no sea and few rivers.

Previously, Burundi could boast of its fauna, but agricultural work has changed the nature and habitat of animals.

In the state, there are still no railways. Only 7% of the roads are asphalted.

About half of the population of Burundi is children under the age of 15, about 30% is young people between the ages of 15 and 29. Old people and middle-aged people are a rarity for this country.

Most of the inhabitants of Burundi (92.9%) profess Christianity.

The currency of the state is the Burundian franc, which is equal to 0.0006 US dollars.

Practically all citizens of the country live below the poverty line. The state's economy suffered from inter-tribal conflicts.

In Burundi, there are deposits of platinum, but they have not yet been developed.
