FX.co ★ Rare and expensive: the most valuable autos of the Sotheby's auction

The most valuable specimen of the exhibition was Ferrari 340 America Barchetta by Touring, manufactured in 1951. The cost of this car was 7.28 million euros.

In total, 23 copies of this model were produced in the world. Of this number, only eight Ferrari 340 America, including the Sotheby's auction model, received a body created by the masters of the Carrozzetria Touring studio.

Half a century ago this car was the main representative of innovative machines of that time.

The Porsche 911 GT1 Evolution racing car, released in 1997, was the second most expensive one. The price of this auto was at times less than the cost of the Ferrari 1951 - the buyer purchased a 19-year-old Italian racing coupe for 2.77 million euros.

The power of this Porsche exceeds the mark of 600 hp.

In the world, there are 41 copies of this model by Porsche - 18 high-speed and 23 classic ones.

The third in terms of value Sotheby's lot was a rare Ferrari 275 GTS, released in 1966. This convertible went under the hammer for 1.79 million euros. Between 1964 and 1966, two hundred such cars were manufactured.

The power of this roadster is small - 260 hp.

It was this copy of Ferrari 275 GTS in the history of its existence that was the pride of three different owners. The car has never been altered - its interior and exterior are presented in its original form.

The most expensive non-European car at the auction was the "American" Tucker of 1948 issue. The new owner of this car laid out 1.34 million euros for it. The exterior of the car seems funny to many people - in front Tuсker is equipped with three headlights, one of which is right in the center. For its unusual location, the headlight was called the "eye of the Cyclops."

In the postwar years, Tucker was considered a real miracle of machine building. The car had disc brakes, independent suspension of wheels and, perhaps, the most outlandish attribute of cars of that time - a safety belt.

A total of 51 copies of Tucher were produced. Immediately after the release of the unusual car, the manufacturer started disagreements with the shareholders.

The Bristol 400 cabriolet went under the hammer at Sotheby's for a much smaller amount than all the above cars - it was bought for 224 thousand euros. This price can be called very democratic since the car is a rarity (manufactured in 1947), designed by the famous engineer Giovanni Battista Farina. In addition, Bristol 400 is the first model of the Bristol Aeroplane Company.

The car does not differ enviable capacity (only 125 horsepower), but the maximum speed of the car reaches 160 kilometers per hour, which is very good for the model of the 1947 release.

It should be said about the most expensive unsold lot - Ferrari 275 GTS/4 NART Spider by Scaglietti. This sports car was created in 1968. It was calculated that the car would go under the hammer for 19-23 million euros, but among the guests of the auction, there was no one who decided on this purchase.
