Seven major megaсities of the developing countries

    According to the last survey data from PwC, that compares cities of the developing countries in terms of 70 variable indicators, this year the first line went to the capital of Russia — Moscow. The main city of the Russian Federation pressed Beijing in the rating, which was an undisputed leader earlier.

    The analysts gave 338 points to Moscow. That way, the Russian megacity outranked Beijing and Mexico (the third line) by 11 and 46 points, respectively.

    Moscow won in such important categories as "Intellectual Capital and Innovations", "Level of Technological Availability", "Transport and Infrastructure", "Sustainable Growth and Environment", as well as "Demography and Adaptability for Life".

      The winner of the last year's rating — Beijing — is content with only the second line this time. The strongest points of the megacity are economy and worldwide recognition of investors and tourists. The Chinese capital lost Moscow in the categories "Intellectual Capital and Innovations" and "Transport and Infrastructure". Note, that Beijing shows a huge margin in the category "Economic Impact", as the city managed to achieve high rates of employment.

    Mexico is on the third line. This is not the first year when the Mexican capital has won bronze in this rating. Experts note, that the city annually demonstrates roughly the same indicators. It is noteworthy, that in 2016 the megacity received more points in the category "Demography and Adaptability for Life".

    One of the main Turkish cities — Istanbul — is on the fourth line. The megacity is set near top three with 279 points. This year Instanbul has shown the improved rates in the category "Transport and Infrastructure".

      Sao Paulo, one of the key Brazilian cities, turned to be on the fifth line. This South American megacity got 84 points in the category "Economy" (Istanbul got the same number of points). However, in the category "Instruments for Progressive Development in a Changing World" Sao Paulo gave in 20 points to its main rival in the rating.

      Mumbai is on the sixth line. In future the Indian megacity reckons upon a higher place in the rating. Experts consider, that Mumbai has the potential to get ahead of the major cities of the developing countries.

    Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, closes the list. At the moment the megacity can not boast of outstanding results, however in 2016 the city got high points in the categories "Level of Technological Availability" and "Healthcare, Safety and Security".Seven major megaсities of the developing countries
