South Korea presented the manned robot
On Tuesday, December 27 in the South Korean city of Gunpo there was a presentation of the prototype walking humanoid robot Method-2, repeating the action of the operator sitting in the cab. The novelty is presented by Korea Future Technology.
Many details of the project were not disclosed, but it is known that the weight of the robot is about 1.5 m, height - about 4 m. Weight of each hand is equal to 130 kg. According to the company, over the past two years it has spent about $200 million to create this novelty.
According to some reports, the main objective of the project was to create a robotic platform that can find application both in the military and industrial sectors. In the future, these robots can be used in the production, when loading or unloading, as well as in the military operations.
The 3D artist Vitaly Bulgarov created the design of this machine. The artist also created models for the film "Transformers 4" and "Terminator: Genesis".
So far, the robot takes its first steps, and engineers improve the performance of the power unit and balance system. Developers are confident that these machines will be able to move on any surface within a few years.
It is assumed that the Method-2 will go on sale at the end of the coming year. Its cost will be approximately $8.3 million.
