FX.co ★ The conflict between the DPRK and Malaysia: is there any way out?

Today tense relations have been established between North Korea and Malaysia. It was caused by the murder of Kim Jong-nam, the brother of the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, commited on February 13 at the airport of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Carring out the expert examination of Kim Jong-un's body, the experts found the traces of VX nerve agent. Two women, a Vietnamese citizen and a resident of Indonesia, are allegedly related to the death of Kim Jong-nam.

The government of Malaysia was also insistent on the Second Secretary Embassy's refoulement from the DPRK. The resident of the DPRK uspected of involvement in the murder of the North Korean leader's brother. He said that he was pressured to confess to the crime against Kim Jong-nam.

The DPRK's Ambassador to Malaysia Kang Chol also gave his point of view. He declared, that the murder of the North Korean leader's relative was beneficial only to Sourth Korea. The politician stressed, that he didn't trust Malaysia in the investigation into the incident. He considers, that the efforts of the both governments, the DPRK and Malaysia, are necessary for effective work. Later Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs tried to present a protest note to the North Korean Ambassador and obliged him to submit apologies for such comments. Kang Chol refused to do it and left the country.

As the result, on Tuesday, March 7, the DPRK's authorities forbade the citizens of Malaysia to leave the borders of North Korea. In response, the Malaysian government does not allow the officials and the employees of the North Korean embassy to leave Malaysia.

At the present time the embassy building of the DPRK in Malaysia is cordoned off by the members of law enforcement. The embassy stuff is prohibited to leave the building. The law enforcement tries to ascertain indentities of all the employees of the embassy.

According to the Malaysian Chief of Police, three citizens of North Korea, involved in the death of Kim Jong-nam and declared wanted, from the perspective of investigators, are in the DPRK embassy building. For the purpose of eliminating the spiking conflict, the Prime Minister of Malaysia Najib Tun Razak called on the North Korean government to permit the citizens of Malaysia to leave the DPRK.
