According to the estimations of the international consulting company Mercer, Baghdad with the population of 9 million people was recognized as the most unsuitable for living city on the globe. One of the largest megacities of the Middle East suffers from endless terrorist attacks, kidnappings and an outrageous level of banditry.

The second place in this anti-rating was awarded to Bangui (Central African Republic). Life here is not only poor but also dangerous - the crime rate is extremely high.

The third place among the worst cities for living went to Sana (Yemen). Life here is not safe. In 2014, it was captured by the Hussites, paramilitary groups of Shiite Zaidites. Earlier in the city, air strikes were inflicted by the coalition led by the Saudi authorities.

The fourth place in the list of cities with the most difficult living conditions was occupied by Port-au-Prince (Haiti). It can be called a model of poverty, even destitution. Rare tourists can see this with their own eyes.

The fifth place in this ranking is taken by Khartoum, the capital of the Sudan. The country is recognized as one of the poorest in the world. The unemployment rate in Khartoum reaches 20%, 40% of the population lives below the poverty line.

The sixth place in the list of cities, that are not appropriate in terms of comfort and safety for life, took Ndjamena (Chad). Over the last decade, the city has frequently been the battleground between the Chadian government forces and rebels. There are almost no modern buildings, the city is mainly occupied by housings: huts and houses out of clay.

The last in this anti-rating is the Syrian city of Damascus. The military conflict has struck almost a devastating blow to it. As a result, all buildings and urban infrastructure were destroyed, and the population plunged into poverty.
