1. Lockheed Martin

US-based Lockheed Martin sells $40.8 billion of military equipment. It specializes in aircraft building, postal services' automated processing systems, airport logistics, aerospace engineering and shipbuilding. But the share of arms sales in its total sales is 86%.

2. Boeing

Northrop Grumman is also a major weapons contractor in the US. It develops and supplies products and solutions in the field of electronics and information technology, aerospace, and shipbuilding.

It was incorporated 1994 as a result of the merger between Northrop Corporation and Grumman Corporation. Northrop Grumman's arms sales come in at $21.4 billion.

6. General Dynamics

General Dynamics is one of the world's largest manufacturers of military and aerospace equipment. It deals in four segments, including aerospace, combat systems, information systems and technology, and marine systems.

General Dynamics is notable known for its M1 Abrams tank, Piranha armored personnel carrier, the F-16 fighter jet, and submarines.

Its arms sales total $19.2 billion.

7. Airbus

Airbus is an international pioneer in the aerospace industry. It was formed in late 1960's through the merger of several European aircraft makers. It is a leader in manufacturing tanker, combat, transport and mission aircraft. With arms sales of $12.5 billion, Airbus employs more than 50,000 people in France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Spain. Its final assembly facilities are located in Germany's Hamburg and Toulouse, France.

Airbus' arms sales as percentage of total sales is 17%.

8. L3 Technologies

L3 Technologies Inc. is a US company that supplies command and control, communications, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C3ISR) systems and products, avionics, ocean products, training devices and services, instrumentation, aerospace, and navigation products.

Headquartered in Manhattan, New York, L3 was formed in 1997. With arms sales worth $8.9 billion, its share of arms in total sales is 85%.

9. BAE Systems (US subsidiary)

BAE Systems Inc is the US subsidiary of BAE Systems plc, a global defense, security and aerospace company which delivers a full range of products and services for air, land and naval forces, as well as advanced electronics, security, information technology solutions and customer support services.

BAE Systems Inc manufactures and delivers service support for armored combat vehicles, artillery systems and ammunition, deals with electronic systems for both commercial and military applications.

Headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, BAE Systems, Inc. has arms sales of $9.3 billion, with revenue from the MIC forming 93% of its total sales.

10. Leonardo

Leonardo is one of the largest machine-building holdings in Italy.

Its arms sales volume is $8.5 billion, with the share of arms in total sales standing at 64%.

The holding's structural subdivisions carry out orders in the spheres of defense, energy, helicopter construction, telecommunications and transport.

It is known for AqustaWestland models in the helicopter market.
