Six romantic empty places of the world
Psychologists have long divided people into extroverts (those who love communication) and introverts (those who prefer solitude). For introverts, it is rather difficult to live in our world where good communication skills are required. Many of them feel best in abandoned corners of the world. Experts offer to look at six such unusual places where lovers of loneliness will be more comfortable.
Holland Island (the USA)
Holland Island is located in the US state of Maryland. Earlier it was inhabited by farmers and boatmen. At present, nobody lives on the island, except for gulls. It slowly disappears under the water, and with it - the last residential buildings.
Fishing village in China
In the Celestial Empire on the shore of the famous Chinese Yangtze River, an abandoned fishing village has been preserved. Over time, it turned into a fairy-tale green kingdom, twined with ivy. Residential houses are completely hidden under the emerald cover as if they are at the bottom of the ocean.
Miranda Castle (Belgium)
The ancient Miranda Castle (or Noisy Castle), located in the Belgian city of Namur, was built not too long ago - at the end of the XIX century. However, the structure looks much older than its years. Perhaps, the reason is the dark Gothic style. The building has been abandoned since the early 1990s.
Nara Dreamland theme park (Japan)
The amusement park Nara Dreamland, located in the Land of the Rising Sun, was opened in 1961. However, in 2006, Nara Dreamland had to close due to losses. The park has been abandoned for 12 years.
Building in Sintra (Portugal)
In the Portuguese city of Sintra, there is a very interesting building in the Hindu style. Being abandoned, it quickly fell into disrepair, and now geese and ducks live in it.
Angkor Wat Temple Complex (Cambodia)
Angkor Wat, an Indian temple complex located in Cambodia, has an ancient history. It is empty since the XV century. One of the most picturesque elements of the architecture of the complex is the Ta Prohm temple. The powerful century-old trees in it merge with intricate buildings reminding of the inexorable flow of time.
