American President Donald Trump stands guard over the dollar’s hegemony! Recently, he warned BRICS nations that they could face tariffs of 150% if they "even mention the destruction of the dollar." That is some dedication to the national currency!
"BRICS states were trying to destroy our dollar. They wanted to create a new currency. So when I came in, the first thing I said was any BRICS state that even mentions the destruction of the dollar will be charged a 150% tariff," the American leader stated.
Let us recall that BRICS nations have indeed explored the idea of a common currency. However, last week, Brazilian officials declared that this idea was dead and never reached serious discussions.
Earlier, Brazilian President Lula da Silva said his country was not afraid of Donald Trump’s threats regarding new tariffs. Moreover, he accused the White House chief of trying to become the "emperor of the world."
Notably, the American president previously stated that if BRICS countries abandoned the dollar, they would face 100% tariffs on goods exported to the US.
