Donald Trump: a loser or successful businessman?
The current president of the United States, the famous politician and businessman Donald Trump, claimed during the election campaign that, having become head of state, he will raise America's prestige to an unprecedented height, since he has extensive experience in conducting business negotiations with national and foreign companies. However, the specialists of the Bloomberg agency were not so optimistic. They analyzed the deals concluded by D. Trump, and realized that the businessman is not too successful in business.
According to the politician, his affairs are going very well. However, sometimes Trump's mouth becomes his enemy - the businessman's impertinence periodically jeopardizes multimillion-dollar deals. For example, the famous words of D. Trump that Muslims should be prohibited from entering the United States and it is needed to place a wall on the border with Mexico. After such statement, the Turkish media tycoon and billionaire Aydin Dogan, the owner of the Trump Towers complex in Istanbul, decided to break the contract with Trump, although the contract has brought him $5 million.
The statement of the politician about Muslims aroused indignation not only in A. Dogan. Representatives of the real estate sale company Damac Properties in Dubai, which is a partner of Trump in the UAE, were also angry with such words and took off the billboards with his portraits. The seller of interior items Lifestyle, who owns 190 stores in the UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, was also displeased. It stopped selling the Trump Home product line.
A 9-year-old project associated with the construction of the second tallest (at that time) skyscraper in Canada - Trump International Hotel and Tower - together with A. Schneider can also be considered not very successful. Investors were promised that the investment will pay off to 21%, but in reality this did not happen. Then the court followed. D. Trump and his partner A. Schneider litigated because of the property management system in the skyscrapers. According to Bloomberg, the difficulties of a businessman in Toronto are not unique, as this also has happened to other foreign policy projects.
Five years ago, another project of the current US president collapsed. In Panama, the seventy storey Trump Ocean Club was built. It could bring the businessman $75 million if the forecasts for the sale of real estate in this complex were materialized. Due to the abundance of such offers on the market, the cost of apartments had to be reduced by half. In 2015, the Association of Apartment Owners suspended Trump's company from managing the complex.
In Scotland and Ireland, Donald Trump acted as an investor, but here he also failed. According to Bloomberg, three of his golf clubs in these countries have yielded more than $35 million, but all three companies managing the clubs recorded significant losses three years ago. Despite this, Donald Trump does not lose optimism, believing that his experience will benefit both international business and the country.
