World's first electric VTOL flying car was presented in Germany
The two-seater Lilium Jet was tested in Germany, but the details of the tests are not yet specified. According to some information, the device was held in the air for about 5 minutes. Large flight tests will be conducted later.
The developers note that this is the first all-electric plane with vertical take-off and landing.
The declared capacity of the device is about 200 kg, the speed is about 300 km/h, and the weight is 400 kg.
One recharging of the battery pack with a total capacity of 320 kW/h should be sufficient for flight at a distance of up to 300 km.
In Lilium Jet, there is a special intelligent control system Flight Envelope Protection System, which will not allow the pilot to perform a potentially dangerous maneuver.
Representatives of Lilium Aviation believe that in the future Lilium Jet will be able to replace helicopters and be used to provide air taxi services. The first piloted test flight of Lilium Jet is scheduled only for 2019, and the pre-order for the device the company will not open until 2025.
