The trolleybus dates back to 29 April 1882, when Ernst Werner Siemens demonstrated his "Elektromote" in a Berlin suburb. In the future, the electric vehicle was recognized all over the world.

The very first trolleybus looked more like a cart than electrically powered transport.

From 1911 to 1914 in Germany, more advanced trolleybuses were used in comparison with the first model. However, they had only one trolley pole.

Over time, this type of public transport significantly improved. The history saw various kinds of trolleybuses. The Skoda 9Tr trolleybus consisted of two passenger compartment sections, connected with help of the multiple-unit train control. It appeared in Kiev in 1986.

Trolleybuses are used not only for moving on the ground. This type of transport includes an underground trolleybus, which is operating in Kurobe, Japan.

Some trolleybuses can carry not only people, but also bicycles. Electric vehicles of the US and Canada are suitable for such transportation.

Zurich, Switzerland, can boast of a double-articulated trolleybus Hess lighTram 3. It resembles a giant blue and white caterpillar moving along city streets. All three sections of the vehicle have a capacity of around 192 passengers.
