Military competition: the United States, Russia and China
Fighter jets
In this category, the US takes the first place, because only they have a fifth-generation fighter jets and also carry out the development of F-22 and F-35 aircrafts. China is preparing to produce 4 fighter jets: J-31, J-20 (analog of F-35) and others. Russia has only one T-50 fighter jet in development, equal in capabilities to F-22, but it will go into service in 2017. The American F-22 is promised to be the winner among all rivals.
Tanks
All three states are developing their own tanks. The US launched the M-1 Abrams tank in 1980. Russia today owns one of the best tanks in the world - the T-90A, which have sustained even a direct TOW missile in Syria. China has developed the Type 99 tank, designed to hold off the attack of foreign weapons. But in this regard, the US also is the leader, as their tanks have had more experience on conducting recent fights.
Surface warships
The US has the rich Navy to always keep the defense in the ocean. The U.S. Navy has 288 battle force ships, of which typically a third are underway at any given time. The U.S. Navy has nine amphibious assault ships, 22 cruisers, 62 destroyers, 17 frigates and 72 submarines. In addition to ships, the U.S. Navy has 3,700 aircraft, making it the second largest air force in the world. What makes the U.S. Navy stand out the most are its 10 aircraft carriers and 9 helicopter carriers—more than the rest of the world put together. Russia is a serious rival here. The Russian Navy has 79 ships of frigate size and larger, including one aircraft carrier, five cruisers, 13 destroyers, and 52 submarines. Also, Russia has a container complex missile "Club-K". It can be placed in a standard sea cargo container and is designed to engage a wide range of surface and ground targets. China also has ships that serve the Coast Guard and the People's Liberation Fleet, and missile carriers. The winner among the three countries in this case is difficult to calculate. China also has ships that serve the Coast Guard and the People's Liberation Army Navy, and missile carriers. In this case it is difficult to find the winner among three countries.
Submarines
America has in stock nuclear submarines (14 units) in combination with ballistic missiles (280 units), 4 submarines with cruise missiles (154 units), and nuclear submarines (54 units). Russia also has very powerful submarines (60 units), not inferior to Western analogues. Today, Russia is developing a 100-megaton torpedo with a nuclear charge and other technologies. China also carries out the development, having in stock nuclear submarines (5 units), diesel submarines (53 units) and nuclear submarines with ballistic missiles (4 units). Thus, Russia and the PRC pose a serious threat to the United States.
