The sides have reached a deal for 20 minutes: the first meeting between Trump and Erdogan
In the White House, on May 16, the negotiations were conducted between the Presidents of USA and Turkey Donald Trump and Recep Erdogan. At the joint press conference the Heads of the states mainly discussed measures against terrorism.

The politicians tried to create the impression that the dialogue was held in a positive way, however, it was obvious that the differences between the two countries remained.
During the conversation, Trump drew attention to the fact that Turkey and USA were old military allies, and he also expressed readiness to support it in the fight against Islamic State and also against Kurdistan Workers' Party.
At the same time, Erdogan congratulated Donald Trump on the electoral victory and also noted that the relations between Turkey and USA were based on “common democratic values”. In addition, the Turkish leader declared that he hoped for enhanced cooperation between the two countries, not only in the area of control international terrorism.
