Miners

Being a miner means working underground with a heavy hammer, removing the rock in a confined space and a minimum of air. Every minute of a miner can be the last. There are cave-ins or methane explosions, which sustainably leave several dozen of miners dead. Thus, miners from Russia, Ukraine and China are the hardest hit, where outdated equipment is used in mines and accident prevention is far from being perfect.

Sappers

Sappers have become extremely popular against the backdrop of the growing terrorist threat. Lives of dozens and even hundreds of other people depend on the accuracy of defusing an explosive device. Remote demining systems appeared relatively recently, but their effectiveness is only 80% compared to 99.6% of manual neutralization. The remaining 0.4% falls to those who did not have a second chance to make a mistake.

Military correspondents

Only the people who are used to taking risks and getting adrenaline can be in the epicenter of military clashes, reporting about what is happening there. Showing the truth on the battleground is as important as treating people, so military correspondents are in the cross hairs of not only TV viewers, but also of those who try to hide their atrocities such as kidnapping, tortures and murders.

Electricians

Installation and repair of high-voltage power lines is carried out at altitude, so the risk of a fatal electric shock increases by a hundredfold. Statistics show that for every 100,000 workers there are 33 fatal accidents, which is one of the highest rates. Moreover, electricians are often subject to bad weather conditions when working outdoors.

Builders

Despite taking all safety measures, statistics of accidents (including fatalities) in the operation of construction equipment is still quite high. Meanwhile, the work with complex and dangerous equipment at altitude in all weather conditions add to the danger degree.

Loggers

Cutting wood is also one of the most dangerous types of activity, since mortality in this area is 20 times higher than in any other. Loggers, woodcutters, choppers - whatever they are called, the fact remains: the risk of getting a fatal injury at such work is very high. Most of the fatalities occur due to the failure of equipment used in stock-piling of timber, and the fall of huge trees weighing several tons on workers. And the conditions of their work are far from comfortable: remote places, wild animals, lack of basic amenities, as well as heavy hours of physical labor.

Fishermen

Many people believe that there is no more peaceful and safe occupation than fishing, but in fact this job is not that simple. Fishing on an industrial scale daily involves the use of complex and potentially life-threatening equipment. In addition, fishermen can get into a storm and die in the open sea, falling overboard. The statistics shows that there are 117 fatal accidents per 100,000 fishermen.

Police officers

Law enforcement officers, police and military personnel are one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Unlike most detective films, the reality does not look so romantic: about 70% of deaths of poice officers occur as a result of collisions with criminals, while the remaining 30% fall on transport accidents. Saving lives of others is a direct duty and the main responsibility of these people.

Aircraft pilots

Despite the fact that air travel is considered safe transportation, in the mass consciousness they are associated with catastrophes and terrorism. Both the crew of the aircraft and its passengers have an equally insignificant chance of saving in the event of an emergency.

Oil rig workers

Oil platform drillers have to use potentially life-threatening equipment and work with flammable substances. Most drilling rigs are far from populated areas and amenities, often in the open ocean with the harshest weather conditions.

Firefighters

The firefighter job is characterized by an enormous level of physical and emotional tension. Buildings that burn down have combustion gases in them which is very harmful for the human body. The vast majority of firefighters suffer from serious respiratory diseases obtained in hazardous work. In addition, the level of psychological tension in extinguishing a fire is very high: every second counts, and one wrong step can put an end to the lives and health of people.

Truck drivers

In 80% of cases, drivers die as a result of road accidents. Truck drivers behind the wheel for long distances experience a constant emotional tension, weighed down by the responsibility for the cargo being transported. Many hours of travel at different times of the day in all weather conditions affect their health not in the best way. Given the poor condition of the road surface and the high level of crime in many countries, truck driving is considered one of the most dangerous jobs in the world.
