The Economist has asked itself the question of applying the plot of the famous movie to the realities of the modern world. After analyzing all its parts, the publication came to the conclusion that most of the screen political and economic events are similar to real life. The magazine formulated 4 conclusions, which can be done by carefully studying the plot of this movie.

Conclusion #1: the value of free trade.

The most important technology in Star Wars is a hyperdrive that allows you to overcome giant distances between planets faster than the speed of light. Thanks to it and free trade citizens of the galaxy have decent incomes. For some planets, such as desert Tatooine or icy Hoth, trading is a way of survival. However, the advantages of trading are neutralized by the monopolies, in particular the Trade Federation, which feeds the shadow business and provokes conflicts on the basis of trading.

Conclusion #2: is globalization a catalyst for political problems?

In the movie saga, in order to participate in the global galactic economy, the planetary authorities have to endure rules that do not suit them. This situation provokes uprisings, leads to wars and the creation of opposing alliances.

Conclusion #3: robotics will not bring happiness to humanity.

Residents of the planets, despite modern technologies, do not sit idle, and often perform dangerous actions even in the presence of a huge number of smart robots. The world of high technologies does not mean that machines can cope with most tasks better than people.

Conclusion #4: inequality ruins people.

An illustration to this conclusion is the story of Anakin Skywalker, who became Darth Vader, and his son Luke. Injustice in the galactic political system leads to the fact that people working for pennies, in the end, can take the path of evil.
