CPSC Recalls: Electric Smokers, Climbing Sticks, Bicycle Helmets, Fuel Bottles

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has recently announced recalls of various products, including digital electric smokers, climbing sticks, bicycle helmets, and fuel bottles due to multiple safety concerns. These products, all manufactured in China, have been found to pose threats including electric shocks, falls, lacerations, head injuries, and risks of poisoning, burns, and flash fire.

Char-Broil LLC's digital electric smokers risk causing electric shocks and are part of the recall. The Georgia-based company sold around 211,700 units in the United States and approximately 3,440 units in Canada. These smokers, intended exclusively for outdoor use and available in black and stainless-steel finishes, sold at stores such as Lowe's, Menards, Ollie's Bargain Outlet, and Target, as well as online retailers like Amazon.com, HSN.com, and Charbroil.com. The shocking incidents were reported by 79 consumers, one of whom developed a blister.

FeraDyne Outdoors LLC's Rhino Climbing Sticks, used for game hunting, have also been recalled due to fall and laceration hazards. The Wisconsin-based company has received nine reports suggesting that the climbing sticks can break at the weld point. As a result, 8,900 units that were available through Amazon.com, Walmart.com, and other sporting goods stores are now part of the recall.

Bell Sports Inc. has recalled their Bell Soquel Youth bicycle helmets due to the risk of head injury. The Irvine, California-based company sold the affected helmets, which were produced before September 2021, in various colors in the U.S. and Canada. The helmets fail to meet the federal safety regulation for bicycle helmets as the strap anchor can become dislodged from the helmet when sufficient force is applied.

Lastly, WAOLi's BRS and BULin Liquid Fuel Bottles pose risks of burns, poisoning, and flash fire for children. These portable fuel bottles, sold exclusively by Amazon.com, failed to meet the child-resistant requirements for closures and lack a flame mitigation device. However, there have been no reported incidents or injuries in relation to these products.

In all of the above recall cases, customers are advised to stop using the product immediately and contact the respective firms for a free repair, replacement, or refund depending on each product's condition.
