Apple Inc. (AAPL) has unveiled its latest iMac, equipped with the M4 chip and Apple Intelligence, positioning it as "the premier all-in-one AI device globally."
Priced starting at $1,299, this new iMac boasts a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display, a 12MP Center Stage camera featuring Desk View, support for up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports, and an array of color-coordinated accessories, including USB-C capabilities.
According to an Apple blog post, "The new iMac is offered in a palette of seven striking colors—green, yellow, orange, pink, purple, blue, and classic silver."
Each iMac will come with a color-matching Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse, with an optional upgrade to a Magic Trackpad. These items now feature USB-C ports to streamline charging with a single cable for users' devices.
A standout feature of this updated model is the robust M4 chip, which significantly enhances performance, enabling tasks such as photo editing and gaming to be managed up to 2.1 times faster than the iMac with the M1 chip.
The eagerly awaited Apple Intelligence offers a suite of features that adds "personal intelligence to the personal computer." This includes Writing Tools for editing and summarizing, alongside a reimagined Siri.
Additional Apple Intelligence applications are set to launch in December, such as Genmoji for creating personalized emojis and Image Playground for crafting innovative visuals. Furthermore, Siri and Writing Tools will be enhanced with ChatGPT integration during this rollout.
In keeping with its commitment to sustainability, Apple has designed the new iMac using eco-friendly materials. The device incorporates 100% recycled aluminum in its stand, as well as recycled gold plating, tin soldering, and copper across several printed circuit boards.
The new iMac is now available for pre-order, with shipping commencing on November 8.
