Apple Inc. (AAPL) has unveiled the iOS 18.1 update, marking the first significant enhancement since the initial release of iOS 18 in September. The update is available at no cost to users.
Initially, Apple announced the awaited Apple Intelligence feature alongside the debut of the iPhone 16. However, these features were absent at the launch event.
Now, the company has integrated the inaugural suite of Apple Intelligence capabilities within this update, which users can acquire via the Settings app or as an automatic overnight install prompt.
The new features introduced encompass advanced writing tools for proofreading and summarizing text, an improved version of Siri, a Clean Up function to eliminate unwanted elements from images, and a Smart Reply option in mail and messaging applications.
Importantly, Apple Intelligence is currently being rolled out in a beta format, accessible to a limited user base. This initial offering is compatible with the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and all models of the iPhone 16 series.
Moreover, the iOS update is accompanied by the availability of iPadOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1 updates, extending the Apple Intelligence tools to these devices as well.
