In April 2025, Austria experienced a year-on-year decline of 1% in wholesale prices, following a 0.2% fall in March. This represented the most significant decrease since October of the previous year. The decline was primarily influenced by a reduction in prices for liquid and gaseous fuels and related products, which saw a decrease of 16.4%, motor spirit, which fell by 13.7%, and solid fuels, down by 11.6%. Additionally, there were price reductions in industrial chemicals (8.2%), plastics and rubber in primary forms (6.6%), and hardware, plumbing, and heating equipment and supplies (2.9%). Conversely, there was a notable rise in costs for coffee, tea, cocoa, and spices at 23.3%, watches and jewelry at 17.8%, grain, seeds, and animal feed at 11%, non-alcoholic beverages at 10.7%, and live animals at 9.5%. On a monthly comparison, wholesale prices dropped by 0.4%, an improvement from the previous period’s 0.8% decline.
