In May 2025, Bulgaria experienced a dip in its business confidence indicator, which decreased to 18.2 from 19.3 recorded in April. The decline can be attributed to a challenging economic climate, which has resulted in decreased confidence (45.9 compared to 51.6 in April), and ongoing labor shortages, which have worsened (36.7 from 29.4). Industrial entrepreneurs also demonstrated reduced optimism concerning the present business environment, with sentiments dropping from 29.1 to 17.8. Despite these challenges, there remains an overall sense of optimism among respondents. They have shown heightened expectations for the business landscape over the next six months (18.7, up from 10.2) as well as for business activity over the upcoming three months (18.9, increasing from 7). Additionally, there is a slight improvement in their assessment of current production activity, which is deemed favorable (rising slightly to 4.8 from 4.7).
