In May 2025, Slovenia experienced a decrease in its annual inflation rate, which fell to 1.8%, down from 2.3% in April. This is the lowest inflation rate observed since December 2024. The reduction is largely attributed to moderated prices in food and non-alcoholic beverages, which declined to 5.5% from 5.9% in April, and in alcoholic beverages and tobacco, which decreased to 2.9% from 3.3%. Clothing and footwear also saw a significant drop, falling to 1.3% from 4.2%. Moreover, the costs for transport and housing and utilities continued to decline, with transport costs decreasing further to -1.9% from -0.1%, and housing and utilities dropping to -2.1% from -1.8%. There was also a reduction in communication prices, which shifted to -0.5% from 0.9%. Conversely, some sectors experienced accelerated price increases: restaurants and hotels rose to 5.3% from 4.4%, education to 4.6% from 3.5%, health to 4.3% from 4.0%, and recreation and culture to 3.1% from 3.0%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices remained stable in May 2025, in contrast to the 1.3% rise observed in April.
