Chile’s IMACEC economic activity index fell 0.1% year-on-year in January 2026, reversing the 1.7% increase recorded in December. Goods production contracted by 1.5%, weighed down by declines in industry (-1.7%), mining (-1.0%), and other goods (-1.9%). In contrast, services grew 1.4% and trade rose 0.4%, partially cushioning the overall slowdown. On a month-on-month basis, economic activity dropped 13.5%, after a 9.6% surge in the previous month.
