Namibia’s Yearly Inflation Ticks Up to 3.1% in April, Ending Two-Month Cooling Trend

Namibia’s consumer price inflation accelerated to 3.10% year‑over‑year in April 2026, up from 2.10% in March 2026, according to data updated on 12 May 2026. The latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) reading marks a clear uptick after the previous month’s softer inflation print and suggests renewed price pressures in the economy.

Both the current and previous figures are calculated on a year‑over‑year basis, comparing each month’s price level with the same month a year earlier. The April 2026 rise to 3.10% therefore indicates that prices increased more sharply than in March 2026, when inflation stood at 2.10% compared with March a year before.

The move higher in annual inflation will be closely watched by investors and policymakers, as it may influence expectations for the cost of living, wage negotiations and the future path of interest rates in Namibia.
