The Czech Republic’s gross domestic product grew by 0.5% quarter-on-quarter in the third quarter of 2026, up from a 0.3% increase in the previous quarter but slightly below market expectations of 0.6%, according to preliminary estimates. Growth was driven by higher household final consumption expenditure and a positive contribution from net exports, while gross capital formation acted as a drag on overall performance. Industry was the primary contributor to quarter-on-quarter growth in gross value added, supported by gains in trade, transport, accommodation and food services, as well as information and communication. On a year-on-year basis, the economy expanded by 1.6% in Q3, moderating from 1.8% in Q2. Stronger household final consumption expenditure, gross fixed capital formation, and foreign demand underpinned the expansion, whereas changes in inventories weighed on overall growth.
