French domestic producer prices increased by 1.7% month-on-month in September 2026, up from 1% in August and reaching their highest level since March. The acceleration was largely driven by manufactured products, whose prices rose by 1.2% after a 0.4% gain in the previous month.
Within this category, prices for coke and refined petroleum products jumped 17.3%, compared with a 5.1% increase in August. This surge reflected the sharp rise in global oil prices in March, triggered by the Middle East conflict that began in late February 2026, followed by pronounced price volatility in the ensuing months. Prices for food products, beverages, and tobacco also edged up, rising 0.3% after remaining flat in August.
By contrast, prices in mining and quarrying, energy, and water were unchanged, holding steady at 3.1%. On an annual basis, overall producer prices advanced 6.8% in September, up from an upwardly revised 4.9% in August and marking their highest year-on-year increase since March 2023.
