Inflation in the Netherlands picked up speed in March following a deceleration in the previous month, according to the initial estimates provided by the Central Bureau of Statistics on Wednesday.
Consumer prices posted an annual rise of 3.1 percent in March, a bump up from the 2.8 percent rise in the preceding month. The final figures for March will be disclosed on April 9.
Inflation measured through the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) also quickened from 2.7 percent in February to hit 3.1 percent in March.
There was a marked increase in energy costs which encompass motor fuel prices, going up by 3.7 percent. Additionally, prices for food, beverages, and tobacco also saw a continued increase of 2.8 percent. Data also indicated that service costs rose at a faster pace of 4.6 percent.
