Sony Pictures Entertainment, a subsidiary of the Japanese multinational corporation Sony Group Corp., along with Apollo Global Management, have reportedly put forward a hefty $26 billion all-cash offer to privatize the entertainment titan, Paramount. This revelation was according to insiders familiar with the situation.
Currently, a special committee, constituted by the board of Paramount Global to consider propositions, is weighing the ultimate offer from David Ellison's Skydance Media. The proposed deal entails a merger of Paramount and Skydance, whilst maintaining the public status of Paramount Global.
Exclusive discussions between the board at Paramount and Ellison are anticipated to wrap up by Friday.
In another development last year in December, there were rumors of a potential merger dialogue between Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. and Paramount Global, inciting further chatter in the media business landscape.
