Sika (SXYAY.PK, SKFOF.PK) has received validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its ambitious emissions reduction targets, which aim for net-zero emissions by 2050.
By 2032, Sika aims to cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50.4% relative to its 2022 baseline, covering both scope 1 and scope 2 emissions. Scope 1 emissions include direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by Sika, while scope 2 emissions encompass indirect emissions from purchased electricity, steam, heating, and cooling. This effort is aligned with the company’s strategy to simultaneously drive growth.
Additionally, Sika pledges to reduce its scope 3 emissions, which account for all other indirect emissions throughout the value chain, such as emissions from purchased goods and services, upstream and downstream transportation, and waste disposal, by 30% by 2032. The overall reduction targets for scopes 1, 2, and 3 are set at 30.4% by 2032, with an ultimate aim to achieve a 90% reduction by 2050.
