The Central Bureau of Statistics reported on Monday that retail sales in the Netherlands experienced their slowest growth in nearly two years.
In April, retail turnover adjusted for shopping days increased by 2.3 percent year-over-year, a deceleration from the 4.3 percent rise observed in March. This marks a continuous rise in sales since March 2021.
Moreover, this April’s growth rate is the most modest since June 2022, when sales increased by only 1.5 percent.
Non-food product sales rose by 3.8 percent annually in April, down from the 6.4 percent growth in March. In contrast, food sales saw a decline of 0.4 percent.
The data also revealed an 8.8 percent increase in online retail sales compared to the previous year.
