Aon plc (AON) announced a decline in its second-quarter earnings compared to the same period last year, falling short of Wall Street analysts' expectations.
The company reported earnings of $524 million, or $2.46 per share, down from $560 million, or $2.71 per share, in the second quarter of the previous year.
On an adjusted basis, Aon plc posted earnings of $624 million, or $2.93 per share, for the period.
Analysts, as compiled by Thomson Reuters, had projected the earnings to be $3.08 per share, excluding special items.
Revenue for the quarter saw an 18.4% increase, reaching $3.76 billion from $3.177 billion in the same quarter last year.
