Portugal's consumer price inflation eased for the second consecutive month in July, as confirmed by final data from Statistics Portugal released on Monday.
The inflation rate fell to 2.5% in July from 2.8% in June, consistent with the preliminary estimates published on July 31.
Core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as energy and unprocessed food products, remained steady at 2.4% in July.
The annual growth in prices for energy products moderated significantly to 4.2% in July from 9.4% in June, primarily due to a lower monthly increase in electricity prices.
Conversely, prices for unprocessed food products grew at an accelerated rate, increasing by 2.8% in July compared to 1.8% in June.
On a month-on-month basis, consumer prices declined by 0.6%, following no change in the previous month. These figures matched the earlier estimates without any adjustments.
Additionally, the EU-harmonised inflation rate also decelerated to 2.7% in July from 3.1% in June, aligning with the preliminary data.
